Our story
How a craving became a tiny market in Hobart
Sabor Austral Market was born from homesickness and a lot of mate. We're two Latin Americans who moved to Hobart and quickly discovered a serious problem: you can't fix homesickness with just Vegemite and Tim Tams.
One winter afternoon we realised we had spent more time hunting for yerba, alfajores and Don Satur than exploring Tasmania. Every time we found something, we sent photos to friends: "Look! Actual dulce de leche!" That's when the idea landed: if we're doing food scouting anyway… why not turn it into a small business?
Sabor Austral Market is our answer to that craving. A tiny home-based store in Hobart, bringing real Latin American flavours — yerba mate, sweets, biscuits and snacks — to our neighbours here in Tasmania.
We work with local importers and only sell pre-packaged, shelf-stable products. No secret factory, no Sunday lunch at grandma's just around the corner — just two migrants in Hobart carefully packing boxes and hoping they make your day a little warmer.

Who we are
Sabor Austral Market was born in Hobart, Tasmania, as a bridge between the flavours of Latin America and your home in Australia.
We are a small family business. We work with local importers to bring you authentic products: yerba mate, alfajores, biscuits, snacks and sweets that remind you of home.
We only sell pre-packaged, long-life foods. Everything is stored and dispatched from Hobart, with delivery available across Australia.
Our idea is simple: when you open a Sabor Austral box, we want you to feel a small piece of home.

Do you prepare or cook food at home?
No. All products stay in their original sealed packaging from the manufacturer. We do not cook, prepare or repack any food at home. -
What should I do if a product arrives damaged?
If a product arrives visibly damaged, please take photos of the parcel and the product and email us within 3 business days at sales@saboraustral.com.au. We will review each case and do our best to find a suitable solution.
